Margaret Marcelle McNair Peele, 86, of Rockingham, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday night, Oct. 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on May 3, 1939 to the late Callip William McNair and Mishie Marie Thompson McNair.
Marcelle was a cosmetologist for more than 30 years at her salon in Hamlet. She loved the Lord, brought her children up in church, and was a member of Second Baptist Church in Hamlet for more than 50 years. She served as a hospitality specialist, hosting weddings, anniversaries and baby showers. She also made and provided the food and decorations for these events. She helped with the Hanging of the Greens for the church at Christmas for many years. She was known for her special talent of creating beautiful flower arrangements and for her 16-layer homemade chocolate cake!
Along with her parents, Marcelle was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Wayne Carlton Peele Sr; brothers, Alfred and Charles McNair; and sister, Vada Tomlin.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Phyllis Anne Peele of the home, Linda Faye Peele of Rockingham, Kathy Peele Webster (Mark) of Raleigh, and Margaret Peele Lancaster (Chris) of Varnamtown; sons, Wayne Carlton Peele Jr. (Patti) of Hamlet and Thomas William Peele (Kelly) of Sanford; grandchildren, Kristy Katekovich (Danny), Michael Lancaster (Jessie), Bryson Webster, Taylor Webster, Meredith Peele and Morgan Peele; great-grandchildren, Caleb Katekovich, Alyssa Katekovich, Kruz Katekovich, Camryn Lancaster and Charlee Anne Lancaster.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, from noon-1 p.m. at Second Baptist Church in Hamlet.
The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 1 p.m., with Pastor Chris Hawks officiating.
Interment will follow at Richmond Memorial Park in Rockingham.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Richmond County Hospice, 1119 N. U.S. Hwy 1, Rockingham, NC 28379; and Second Baptist Church, 518 Fourth St., Hamlet, NC 28345.
