Marilyn Dianne Hunsucker, 72, of Cordova, passed peacefully on March 1, 2026 at Hospice Haven surrounded by her family.
Marilyn was born Aug. 24, 1953, originally from Montana, until she settled in Cordova after marrying the love of her life, Richard (Rick) Hunsucker where they built their life together, and were blessed with three children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Marilyn enjoyed life to the fullest and was a loving and amazing wife, mother, grandmother (Grams), and great-grandmother. Marilyn was a nurse for 28 years as well as a phenomenal quilter. Marilyn spent a lot of time at the river camping and boating with her family. She also enjoyed time at the beach, riding horses, and loved spending time outdoors.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Rick Hunsucker; her father, Merlin Sorenson; and mother, Lilian Sorenson.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at Watson-King Funeral Home in Hamlet. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. with Vernon Dye officiating.
She is survived by her children, Ricky Hunsucker (Sara) of Laurel Hill, granddaughter Diamond (Alex) Oxendine, two great-grandchildren, Wren and August, Chris (Crystal) Hunsucker of Hamlet, and two grandsons Cain and Cooper, Alicia (Mae) Lunceford (John) of Cordova and two grandchildren, Johnny (Makayla) and Liz; four sisters and two brothers; and special friends that are family, Melinda Murphy of Rockingham, Ashley Murphy of Rockingham and Brian Freeman of Conway, South Carolina.
