OBITUARY: Martha Jacobs Tyler

Posted

Martha “Martie” Jacobs Tyler, 50, of Hamlet, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Richmond County Hospice Haven, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Dec. 12, 1974 in Scotland County, daughter of Brenda Wallace Mullis and the late Cecil Jacobs.

Martie was a member of Springhill Wesleyan Church and was a faithful servant and Christian influence to everyone she touched. Her courageous battle with vulvar cancer and her strength that she showed to everyone she knew was a testament of her faith in God. Her endearing jovial spirit will continue to live on in her family and friends.

Martie worked in childcare for many years, loving and nurturing numerous babies over the years. She loved the children she had the pleasure of caring for and their families, and they all loved Martie. Her tenure with Sandy’s Creative Kids in Hamlet was a highlight of her life.

Having a comical personality and always smiling, Martie was a pleasure to be around. She was a people-person and had the best personality. She will be remembered fondly by her family, friends, and all of the babies she loved through the years.

Along with her father, she was preceded in death by her stepfather that raised her, Mack Phillips.

Left to cherish Martie’s memories are her husband, Darrick Tyler of the home; daughter, Manda Polston of Hamlet; son, Joshua Derek Polston of Hamlet; her beloved granddaughter, Nariah Tyler; her mother and stepfather, Brenda and David Mullis of Rockingham;  brother, Johnny Jacobs, and wife Mary of Laurinburg; mother-in-law, Betty Goebel and husband Don of Laurel Hill; sister-in-law, Tylenna Goebel of Laurel Hill; nieces, Raelynn Goebel and Kourtney Jacobs; and numerous extended family and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 9, 2025 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Springhill Wesleyan Church, Hamlet.

The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 1 p.m., with Pastor Johnny Stogner and the Rev. Bob Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
