Mary Louise Forrester, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025, in Richmond County, North Carolina, at the age of 85.
Born on Nov. 10, 1939, in Suffolk County, Massachusetts, Mary spent her life dedicated to the people she cherished most — her family.
A steadfast homemaker, Mary took immense pride in creating a warm and loving home for her children and grandchildren. Her laughter, kindness, and fun spirit were hallmarks of her personality, leaving an enduring impression on all who had the pleasure to know her. Mary was a woman who loved deeply and cared for others wholeheartedly. She relished the time spent with family, making memories that will forever be etched in the hearts of those she adored.
Mary's legacy lives on through her devoted family: her daughters, Nancy Waddell (Allen), Tammy Messer (Roger) and Dawn Warwick (Chris), and her sons, Michael Forrester (Amy) and Mark Forrester. She also shared her love with Pam Williams, who she considered like a daughter. As a proud matriarch, Mary is survived by 18 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride. Along with her lifelong friend Shirley Inman.
Mary is predeceased by her husband, Gene Forrester; her parents, James Murphy and Ann Cadigan Murphy; her brother, Paul Murphy; her sister, Beverly Stratton; and two beloved grandchildren. The love she shared with them will be cherished and remembered forever.
A visitation will be held in her honor on March 29, 2025, from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home-Rockingham, followed by a funeral service from 2 p.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Colonial Chapel.
Burial will follow the service at Richmond County Memorial Park.
