Melvia Tucker Holt, 76, of Hamlet, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 26, 2026 at Richmond County Hospice Haven, surrounded by her family.
She was born on Aug. 17, 1949, to the late Melvin Austin Tucker and Hazel Pittman Tucker.
Melvia leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service to others. She was an active and devoted member of First Baptist Church, where she lived out her faith through a true servant’s heart. She loved children deeply and had a big heart for everyone she met, always willing to do anything for anyone in need.
Known for her giving, compassionate and loving nature, Melvia touched countless lives. She found joy in decorating, gardening, and flowers. She was immensely proud of her grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them.
She dearly loved her town of Hamlet and her community. Melvia was known for her quick wit. She will be remembered for her generosity, her love for others, and the way she made everyone feel seen and cared for.
Along with her parents, Melvia was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Pittman Tucker.
She is survived by her loving husband, Larry Joseph Holt of the home; daughters, Michee Olson of Shallotte and Amy Webb (George) of Greenville; and her adored grandchildren, Meredith Olson, William Webb, Mary Catherine Webb and Sarah Jane Webb.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026 at First Baptist Church of Hamlet, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Dr. Allison Farrah officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
Interment will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Laurinburg.
