Merilous Norton Cline, 82, of Pikeville, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2024 at UNC Health Wayne, Goldsboro, NC.
She was born Sept. 15, 1942, in Richmond County, daughter of the late James Clifford Norton and Clara Ruth Ford Norton.
Merilous was an adventurous lady that loved to travel, especially on cruise ships. She enjoyed fishing, camping, and loved to sew.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald “Ron” Cline; brothers, Jimmy Norton and Glenn Norton; and son-in-law, Charles Goering.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Sharon Greene-Goering of Stedman and Debbie Greene Bailey, and husband Jamie Bailey, of Pikeville; first husband and father of her children, Chesley Greene of Rockingham; grandchildren, Blake Pope and Noah Goering; stepchildren, Christopher Cline and Jennifer Lindsay; brother, Billy Norton (Jan) of Woodbridge, Virginia; sister, Diane Shoenberger (Mike) of Myrtle Beach; her beloved fur grandbaby, Bailey; and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the caregivers and family that took great care of their mother.
Graveside services will be conducted on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Richmond County Memorial Park, Rockingham, with Pastor Linda Nelson officiating. Interment will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, Merilous requests that a Camilla, flowering shrub, or tree be planted in her memory.
