Michael “Mick” Long Meacham, 80, of Ellerbe, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2024 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.
He was born Oct. 16, 1943 in Richmond County, son of the late James Franklin Meacham and Robbie Grose Smith.
Mick, as he was known by most, worked as a rate clerk in the motor freight industry. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Ellerbe. Being a nature-loving man, he spent a lot of time traveling across the country, almost to all 50 states, enjoying God’s scenic creation that he found beautiful. He loved the water and the mountains, and spent much of his time traveling with his wife taking in the landscapes. He simply loved nature.
Mick was a fine man, loved to laugh and make people laugh. He found the good and positive in everyone. To know Mick was to love him.
Surviving is his wife, Diane Floyd Meacham of the home; daughters, Michelle and Melanie; stepchildren, Mike, Amy and Lindsey; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and brothers, Jerry and Jimmy.
