ROCKINGHAM — Patricia Ann McDonald, 73, of Rockingham, North Carolina, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday morning, July 1, 2023. Patricia was surrounded by her loving family at Hospice Haven.
Pat was a daughter of the late Walter and Mary Hester Cain. She was born Aug. 3, 1949 in Bladenboro, North Carolina.
Along with her parents, Pat is predeceased by her brother, Robert Cain.
Pat was a well-loved woman by many. At an early age, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. It is important to know that while MS is a debilitating and devastating disease to many, Pat never let her disease hold her back. She was a strong and tenacious woman that triumphed in the face of adversity. Even with her limitations, she strove to live life to the fullest and was able to obtain her driver’s license.
Through all of this, she always held on to her strong faith in Christ. Pat was a loving and caring woman that enjoyed people and doing things for people. Pat loved her family with all of her heart. She loved taking care of them, and did an amazing job doing so.
After her diagnosis, she focused her attention to taking care of her family. She loved to cook and she loved to eat. Her most notable dishes were her fried chicken and her Sunday Night Roast. Along with cooking for her family, she loved to bake cakes for any occasion. Pat was a woman that loved all things pink and floral and her closet at home can attest to that.
When you remember Pat, think of all the memories shared, all the home-cooked meals, and find solace knowing that you were able to make such wonderful memories with such an inspiring woman. Pat is a woman that will be missed by many.
Pat is survived by her husband of 40 years, David McDonald, of the home; son, Jackie Stogner (Gena) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; siblings, Jimmy Cain of Hamlet and Hilda Reynolds of Rockingham; granddaughters, Alexandria Stogner and Ashley Santana. Pat also leaves behind a host of friends and loved ones.
Funeral services will be held at Faith Free Will Baptist Church Monday July 3, 2023 at 4 p.m. with the Rev. David Lee officiating the service. Family will receive friends and loved ones for visitation an hour prior. Burial will follow at McDonald Baptist Church Cemetery.
