Peggy was born June 26, 1945 in Alabama, a daughter of the late Robert Carter St. John and Iona V. Sansing St. John.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  Peggy met and married the love of her life, Charles Honeycutt, in Columbus, Mississippi, where he was serving in the United States Air Force.  During their marriage, she supported Charles during his 20-year military career, living in North Carolina, Georgia and Hawaii until retiring to Charles’ hometown of Hamlet.  Together they had one son, Charles Brock Honeycutt.

Peggy worked with General Electric as a credit clerk for many years.  She was an excellent cook and enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, and other crafts as well as spending time with her family.

The apple of her eye was her only granddaughter, Nikki Honeycutt Steadman, who she loved with all her heart and affectionately called “Sweetums.”

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her six siblings, Lewis St. John, Robert St. John, Wayman St. John, Kit St. John and Dorothy Stewart.

Peggy is survived by her husband of 63 years, Charles Honeycutt, of the home; son, Charles Brock Honeycutt (Wanda); granddaughter, Nikki Steadman (Dylan); great-grandson, Jaxon Steadman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026 at noon at Harrington Funeral Home, Hamlet, with Pastor Butch Park officiating.
