OBITUARY: Richard Lee Daigle

Richard “Ricky” Lee Daigle, 67, of Rockingham, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family Monday, June 9, 2025.

Ricky was a son of the late Roland and Bernice Daigle.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Elaine Dowd, Dodie Starbird and Carol Ann Craven.

Ricky was born on Jan. 23, 1958, and was raised in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. He would live there for most of his youth before his family would relocate to Rockingham, his senior year of high school.

Ricky was a jack of all trades when it came to talent and wit. He was smart as a tack, and a very gifted and skillful artist that could draw just about anything. Ricky mostly worked in HVAC and carpentry, having been employed with Scholls’ Heating and Air for several years. In his work, he also was responsible for drafting ductwork for the local hospitals within a 100-mile radius. He was a longtime member of the Moose Lodge of Rockingham.

There are many things that can be said to describe Ricky. He was a man that loved to crack a joke; sit back, drink a beer and fish; or that he could be found “running the table” as a pool shark. He was also a phenomenal cook and enjoyed woodworking.

Ricky would give you the shirt off his back if in need. He had a soft spot when it came to animals, he loved his little black chihuahua, “Bambi,” and the dog he owned with his sister Carol Ann, “Friday,” very much. Ricky is the type of man that could gently feed a squirrel from the palm of his hands. That is the kind of man Ricky Daigle was, and he is a kind man that will be missed.

Ricky is survived by his siblings, Michael Daigle, Nancy Swenor, Betsy Gonzales and Patti Rodriguez. Ricky leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ricky’s Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, June 15, 2025, at 3 p.m. at the Moose Lodge of Rockingham. His niece Stefanie Starbird will lead the ceremony.

Memorial donations can be made to the Moose Lodge of Rockingham at 128 Crow Run, Rockingham, NC 28379.
