Richard “Rick” Reid Thrower, 71, of Rockingham, passed away at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond, on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025.
Rick was born in Richmond County to the late Leonard and Omelia Webb Thrower on Jan. 4, 1954.
Rick graduated high school at Great Mills High School in Great Mills, Maryland. He had a love for sports, especially baseball, football, hockey and cricket. He took great pleasure in managing his fantasy sports teams.
A devoted naturalist and conservationist, he was passionate about animals, raising goats and maintaining bird feeders to support local wildlife. Before his health began to decline, he served in a clerical role at his church. Rick was also dedicated to supporting charitable causes, reflecting his generous and caring nature.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Abigail Thrower.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Anne Thrower of the home; daughters, Allena and Briana Thrower, both of Rockingham; son, Reid Thrower and wife Brianna of Rockingham; and granddaughter, Elisabeth Thrower and grandson, Dawson Kelly.
