Richard Steven Craven, 67, of Hamlet, passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026 at Richmond Co. Hospice Haven.
He was born Dec. 28, 1958 in Richmond County, a son of the late Robert B. and Frances M. Stubberfield Craven.
If you knew Ricky, you knew he was the life of the party. Always with a smile on his face and always with a “funny” dad joke. He didn’t know a stranger and before he left a bar, he would know every single person by name. Ricky could brighten anyone’s day and would give you the shirt off his back. He cared deeply for people and had such a gentle heart. He will be deeply missed and remembered for those dance moves and a smile that could light up a room.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Richard Craven Jr. in 2001.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Ricky is survived by his daughter, Heather Birol and his son-in-law Christian Birol. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Taylor Sweat, and great-granddaughter, Millie Dawn.
His absence in our lives should be a reminder to live life to the fullest and don’t just exist, live!
