Robah “Mac” B. McDougald Jr., 75, of Hamlet, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026 at UNC Medical Center, Chapel Hill.
He was born July 19, 1950 in Richmond County, son of the late Robah B. McDougald Sr. and Elsie Beard McDougald.
Mac, as he was affectionately known, worked with the N.C. Forest Service for more than 30 years. He was a dedicated worker and completed his career as a county ranger prior to retirement. He also was a member, and later chairman, with the Scotland County Fire Commission, serving over 30 years.
Mac was well known as an amazing cook, serving with numerous church activities as well as other functions that he participated with. He enjoyed cooking and serving his community. Of the enjoyments in his life, he loved riding his motorcycle, which was his pride and joy. He lived his life to the fullest.
Mac is survived by his brother, Gordon McDougald (JoAnn) of Summerville, South Carolina; sister, Cathy Herman (David) of Cary; niece, Chrissie Herman, and nephew, David Herman Jr. (Betsy).
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026, beginning at 2 p.m., at First Methodist Church of Rockingham.
