Robert Earl Baxley Jr., 77, of Rockingham, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond.
He was born July 21, 1948, in Marlboro County, South Carolina, son of the late Reverend Robert Earl Baxley Sr. and Joyce Gardner Baxley.
With unshakeable conviction, Robert stood resolute in his faith, and undoubtedly, he now radiates eternal bliss with the angels in Heaven. His heart reveled in boundless joy embracing the warmth of the sun and the thrill of water, proudly showcasing his sun-kissed glow. Since childhood, rock and roll music had been his all-consuming fervor, fueling his soul with unbridled enthusiasm that, while costly, was worth every moment, even if it meant sacrificing his hearing.
Robert had a radiant sense of humor that will forever be etched into the memory of his family and friends, as he lived a life filled with laughter and joy.
His love for his family knew no bounds, and he leaves behind a legacy of cherished moments with his devoted sister, who stood by him throughout his life.
To his grandchildren, he was the epitome of a fun-loving grandpa, creating unforgettable memories that will be treasured forever.
As a father, Robert took immense pride in his two sons, who were indeed his greatest achievements.
Above all, he was a loving husband, companion, and pillar of strength to his loving, devoted wife, with whom he shared almost a lifetime of love and memories. She displayed unwavering dedication to Robert as she cared for him til the end, never once leaving his side.
He leaves a legacy far greater than any wealth in his family, who will forever carry him in their hearts.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Robert Earl Baxley Sr. and Joyce Gardner Baxley.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Sue Thomas Baxley of the home; sons, Robbie Baxley (Jamie) of Rockingham and Chris Baxley (Sherry) of Wadesboro; grandchildren, Jessica Baxley, Kelsey Baxley, Robbie Baxley IV, Jayden Baxley and Jackson Baxley; great-grandchildren, Shakyia, Zane, Elsie and Ahlyus; six step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren; sister, Cheryl Baxley Parnell (Ed) of Lake Tillery; nephew, Randy Willard of Mount Gilead; and a special neighbor, Brian Crook.
