OBITUARY: Robert Edward Williams

Robert “Bob” Edward Williams, passed away at his home on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born on May 16, 1946, to the late Leaton Murphy Williams Jr. and Clyde Howle Williams. 

Bob was a devoted family man who loved his family deeply. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  He attended N.C. State University and later graduated from Campbell University. 

He worked as an insurance agent for more than 30 years, spending most of his career with Allstate Insurance. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, woodworking, and drag racing — passions that brought him great joy. He was also a generous supporter of Shriners Children’s, a cause that meant a great deal to him. He will be greatly missed by his family and loved ones. 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Williams Gibson.

Left to cherish his memories, his wife, Anne Kirkley Williams of the home; children, Kimberly Ryan Menken (Joshua) of Summerville, South Carolina, Annette Goings (John) of Pawley’s Island, South Carolina, Jewell Kirkley Bullard (Greg) of Rockingham, and Sonny Kirkley (Jamie) of Bloomington, Indiana; grandchildren, Ann Gibson, Grace Gibson, Samuel Menken, Christen Menken, Rose Ruth Menken, Esther Menken, Avalon Menken, Gabriel Menken, Aria Menken, Amanda Bullard (Chad), Luke Bullard (Brittany), Nic Bullard (Haylie), Gigi Kirkley (Joshua), and Harrison Jack Kirkley; great-grandchildren, Nathan Bullard, Cali Rae Bullard, Nolan Bullard, Tate Bullard, and Fisher Bullard; brother, Leaton “Ted” Murphy Williams III of Indian Trail; sister, Mayme Clyde Williams of Kill Devil Hills; and his loving furry companion, Lolly Anne.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 1 p.m. in the mausoleum at Richmond County Memorial Park.
