Robert Michael Burdick, 50, of Pinehurst, passed away on April 11, 2025.

Born April 1, 1975 in Miami, Florida, Robert (Bobby/Bob/Rob) is the son of Clyde Reed Burdick and Janet Mendelson Burdick.

He was a cherished father, son, brother and friend that always went out of his way to make sure everyone was taken care of before he would be concerned with himself.

He was preceded in death by grandparents Madeline Mendelson, Daniel Doyle Mendelson, Clyde R. Burdick Sr., and Lorita Irene Burdick.

He is survived by his children, Ethan Michael Burdick (Bridgett Mejia-Reyes) of Rockingham, and Alexis Ryanne Burdick of Hamlet; parents, Clyde and Janet Burdick of Pinehurst; his sister, Traci Murphy and her children, Delaney Shannon, Colin Gregory and Derek Reed of Tampa, Florida; and his rescued Dachshund that he adopted 12 years ago, Crisi-bear.

Robert grew up in Miami where he received his high school diploma and completed Robert Morgan Vocational Technical Institute for Automotive Training.

Soon after, he moved to N.C., where he quickly obtained his BLET certification from Richmond Community College. Using that certification, he served the local community as an officer with the Rockingham Police Department. He later obtained his ASE certification from Randolph Community College and transitioned into working in auto mechanics again, which he enjoyed as a profession and a hobby.

Rob’s favorite times were spent with his son, Ethan, and daughter, Alexis. He treasured his time with both. He and his son, Ethan, enjoyed rebuilding Rob’s old Mustang together, as he shared his lifelong love for muscle cars, then later, his love for motorcycles. He also loved watching his daughter, Alexis, dance and play piano. They were puzzle architects, foodies, and snake charmers to his pets Dunkin and Leo.

Rob leaves behind many family and friends, including two motorcycle riding buddies, Brian and Jason; as well as close family friends, Amber and Dakota. To know Rob was a blessing. He was the best listener and most loyal friend you could know. As we grieve his loss, we will always remember the kindness, patience, and understanding he showed so many, passing it along, and honoring his memory.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Online condolences can be made to watson-kingfuneralhome.com. Watson-King Funeral Home in Hamlet is honored to serve the Burdick Family during their time of need.
