OBITUARY: Sally Ann Locklear Brayboy

Sally Ann Locklear Brayboy, 75, of Hamlet, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on Jan. 3, 1951 in Robeson County, she is a daughter of the late Brady and Harriett Locklear.

Sally was known for her strong work ethic, kind heart, and deep love for her family and faith. She dedicated more than 20 years of service to FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital, where she worked in housekeeping and was respected by coworkers and friends alike for her dedication and caring spirit.

Sally found joy in the simple blessings of life. She loved gardening, canning vegetables, attending gospel singings, and preparing meals for those she loved. She was a wonderful cook whose kitchen was often the heart of family gatherings. Above all, Sally loved the Lord and lived her life guided by faith, compassion, and devotion to others.

She was a loving and devoted wife for 58 years, a wonderful mother, and an adoring grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her family. Nothing brought her greater happiness than having her loved ones together.

Sally will be remembered for her warmth, strength, unwavering love, and the many lives she touched through her kindness and faith. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.

Left to cherish Sally’s memory is her husband, Ernest Brayboy Sr. of the home; sons, Ernest Brayboy Jr. (Joanie) of Rockingham and Charles Brayboy of Hamlet; grandchildren, Joshua Brayboy, Jeremy Brayboy and Tori Brayboy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 26, 2026 from 6-8 p.m. at Harrington Funeral Home, Hamlet.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Harrington Funeral Home, with the Rev. Eddie Carter officiating. Burial will follow at the Hamlet Church of God of Prophecy cemetery.
