OBITUARY: Sally Brigman Shelton Beaman

Sally Brigman Shelton Beaman, 88, of Ellerbe, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 13, 2025.

Mrs. Beaman was born Feb. 26, 1937 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Arthur and Ethel Holder Brigman.

She had worked with Commonwealth Hosiery, White’s Poultry/Perdue from where she retired and later, she and her husband Johnny raised chickens. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Church and the Women in Misson. She loved bluegrass music and buck dancing, sometimes dancing four nights a week. She also enjoyed working in her flowers, cooking baking and taking care of her cat, Rosie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Johnny Shelton in 2003 and Billy Ray Beaman in 2018; and siblings, Legrand Brigman, Jimmy Brigman and Patty Jean Cook.

Surviving are her sisters, Jacky Lamonds (Manuel), Nan Stout (George) and Sarah Maddry; her beloved feline companion, Rosie; several nieces and nephews; stepchildren, Angela Beaman Bush (Jim) and Billy Ray Beaman Jr.; step-grandchild, Payten Gallagher (Sean); and step-great-grandchildren, Parker and Macie Rae Gallagher.

The family will receive friends from 12:45 -1:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20,2025 at Carter Funeral Home in Ellerbe. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Mims officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest beside her husband Johnny in Ellerbe Cemetery.
