OBITUARY: Sally Joyce Hayden

Sally Joyce Hayden was born to Chester and Mary Sue Hayden on Nov. 11, 1961. She went to her eternal home on April 27, 2025, at the Richmond County Hospice Haven with her sisters, Debbie Hayden Chavis and Jenny Hayden Cowick by her bedside.

After a career in nursing in both Richmond and Anson counties, Sally joined her mother to open and operate a home daycare, Happy Hours, for many years. Sally and her mother cared for countless babies and children over the many years of Happy Hours Daycare.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Mary Sue Hayden; and her sister, Cathy Hayden Batton.

Sally will be missed greatly as she could make anyone smile and laugh with her humor. She was well known for her style and keen sense of fashion.

She is survived by her sisters who are also her best friends, Debbie Hayden Chavis (Ervin) and Jenny Hayden Cowick (Lewis). Although Sally never had children of her own, she loved and cherished her nieces and nephew, April Cowick Cline (Brian James), Amy Bruce Locklear (Matthew), Phillip Robert Kinsey, Donna Cowick Jacobs (Allen) and Lisa Cowick Gil (Aramiz). She is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews as well as two great-great nephews.

A memorial service will be held at East Side Cemetery on Sunday, May 4 at 11 a.m.
