Sarah Kay Hunt, 38, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill.
She was born on Dec. 2, 1987 in Richmond County to Jeffery Kay Hunt and Dian James Fernandez.
Sarah had a truly good heart and was always doing for others, especially the homeless in her community. She gave generously of her time, resources, and love without ever expecting anything in return. Helping those in need was not just something she did — it was who she was. She was a kind person who treated everyone with dignity and respect. Her warmth and generosity touched many lives.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her. Her spirit of kindness will live on in the many lives she helped.
Sarah was preceded in death by her brother, Jeremy Parker; aunts, Patricia Locklear, Sarah Elizabeth Hunt and Helen Hunt; and uncle, Frankie Hunt.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Zoey and Kyle Anderson; mother, Dian Fernandez (Jesse) of Hoffman; father, Jeffery Hunt of Maxton; brothers, Danny Parker and David Heaton, both of Rockingham; sisters, Juanita Garcia (Alberto) of Rockingham, Gayle Parker of Rockingham, and Latisha Faye Carter of Red Springs; special friend, James Pratt; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026, from 1-3 p.m., at Harrington Funeral Home in Hamlet.
