OBITUARY: Sheila Ramos Chavis

Sheila Ramos Chavis, 68, of Rockingham, passed away surrounded by her loving family and friends on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Moore Regional Hospital.

She was born Oct. 8, 1956 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Sheila is a daughter of the late Billy Jay Chavis and Bernice Poole Scott.

In addition to her parents, Sheila is preceded in death by her brothers, Jeffrey Lee Chavis and Ronnie Joe Chavis, as well as her grandmother, Minnie Hamilton Poole.

Sheila spent her career as a property manager for Boyd Management, where she was a diligent employee. As Sheila was devoted to her work, she was devoted even more to her husband of 13 years, Robert Ramos, and showed the same devotion for all her beloved family and friends.

Sheila loved to spend her time shopping and loved to listen to music and dance. She had a passion for interior decorating, but more than anything, Sheila valued her family. She saw the importance of family values and she was always a source of love and encouragement for her family and all she encountered. Sheila was a dear soul who will be greatly missed, but she leaves behind a wonderful legacy of love and care that will always speak of her life.

Left to cherish Sheila’s memory is her husband, Robert Ramos of the home; her children, Lynn Zamarippa (Josh), Tiffany Dahunsi (Isaiah), Heather McNeill (Rodney “J.J.”), and bonus son Jamie Gathings (Mariel); godson, Abdu/Blue; brothers, Jerry Chavis (Annette), Gary “Hoppy” Chavis and Keith “Pete” Chavis (Glenda “Little Bit”); sisters-in-law, Lisa Ramos, Evelynn Ramos, Carol Benitez, Jessica Ramos and Pearlie Ann Roger (Tommy); mother-in-law, Virginia Ramos; grandchildren, Kayla Strickland, Gabriel Pesqueira (Daisy), Brannon Ikner (Hannah), Braxton Smith (Tisha), Amber Grant (Jeremy), Emilio Pesqueira (Chasity), Taylor Pederson (Michael), Cameron Pederson, Hailey Todd (Tyrone), Kari Pederson and Trinity Pesqueira; great-grandchildren, Payton, Zy, Brayden, Jaiden, Kinley, Madilynn, Kymbre, Legasi and Selena; as well as very dear friends, Wanda Baetty (Ron), Lora Davis (Pete) and Ms. Ruby Wesley.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham. A service to remember Sheila’s life will be held Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Abundant Life Church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Joe Wilkes officiating. Interment will follow at Eastside Cemetery.
