OBITUARY: Steve Ralph Strohsack

Steve Ralph Strohsack, 77, of Hamlet, passed away Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

He was born Nov. 19, 1947 in Douglas County, Wisconsin, a son of the late Ralph and Geraldine Strohsack.

Steve served in the U.S. Navy and was a retired truck driver. He attended First Baptist Church in Hamlet. He was very knowledgeable about the Word of God, and his kindness and compassion for others was infectious. He adored his grandchildren and his beloved dogs, Sam and Scout.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sue Strohsack in 2022.

A memorial service was conducted Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025 at 11 a.m. in the chapel at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Allison Farrah and the Rev. Butch Farrah officiating.

Surviving are his sister, Mary Ann Smith of Ohio; his nephews, Brett Smith, Dean Smith of Ohio and Stacey (Scott) Smith of Florida; his stepchildren, Chris Stewart (April) of Charlotte, and Jeff Stewart (Nicole) of Charleston, South Carolina; and his grandchildren, Lauren Althouse (Ben) of Troutville, Virginia; Hannah Hannon (Matt) of Vernon, Connecticut, Faith Stewart of Wilmington, Jordyn Stewart of Charleston, South Carolina, and Savanna Stewart of Charleston, South Carolina; along with six great-grandchildren.
