Tammy Lee Poston, 58, of Hamlet, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at Richmond County Hospice Haven, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born May 5, 1967, in Prince William, Virginia, daughter of Arthur Glenn Poston and Margie Thelma Crane Adams.
Tammy worked as a waitress most of her working years, mostly with The Colonial Restaurant and The Holiday Restaurant. She enjoyed going to the beach, dancing and especially loved to shop and could find a mall anywhere. Her family recalls how she loved to get dressed up and doing her hair and makeup.
Tammy loved to joke with anyone and was very tender-hearted and kind, and especially loved to help people, putting them before herself. Of everything she loved, her family was the most important in her life. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her son, Lil Ronnie Oxendine; maternal grandparents, Grace Stackhouse and J.D. Crane; paternal grandparents, Rosamae Saunders and Pulion Sulion Poston; and nieces, Candice Williams and Amanda Jarrell.
Tammy is survived by her daughter, Erica Graham (Brian) of Rockingham; grandchildren, Storm Graham, Tyler Graham, Ethan Graham, Patience Oxendine, Paislee Oxendine and Matthew Oxendine; her mother, Margie Thelma Adams of Burlington; her father, Arthur Glenn Poston (Pam) of Rockingham; her siblings, Sheryl Smith (Jimmy) of Reidsville, Tina Thompson of Hamlet, Sherri Harrell (Billy) of Burlington, Glenn Poston Jr. of Rockingham, and Crystal Snowden (Pat) of South Carolina; nephews, Jeffrey Strickland, Chuckie Strickland and Travis Strickland; special friend, Eddie Dean; bonus kids, Ty Bell and Loyal G; her beloved furbaby, Monkey; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 31, 2025 at JOY Freewill Baptist Church, Hamlet, from 2-3 p.m.
The memorial service will immediately follow visitation, beginning at 3 p.m., with Pastor Lloyd O. Grant Jr. officiating.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Erica and Brian Graham, in Rockingham.
