The Rev. David Edwin Creech, 97, of Hamlet, went home to be with his Lord, Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond in Rockingham, North Carolina.
He was born June 15, 1926, in Richmond County, son of the late William H. Creech Sr. and Janie Byrd Creech.
The Rev. Creech proudly served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He enlisted at an earlier age into military service and honorably served our country. During his service, he won the Feather Weight Division of boxing for the Navy.
After completing his military career, he went on to graduate from Veterans High School, obtain his four-year degree from Baylor University, and ultimately completed seminary school, serving as a strong and faithful servant of the Lord for many years as a missionary and minister for Jesus Christ.
He and his late wife, Arlene, initiated a church in Caribou, Maine, which was just the beginning of their ministry. He went on to serve as pastor in many churches in the states of Maine, North Carolina, South Carolina, as well as tenures in Maryland and Texas. He found great pleasure in also serving the church in Washington, D.C.
The Rev. Creech was a humble man. Family was most important to him and he lovingly and faithfully served his family. He was always engaged with his children and their involvements in church, school, and sports. He was always there for them.
