Wade Allen Lewis Sr., beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away Monday, March 31, 2025 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.
He was born May 1, 1934, in Mullins, South Carolina, son of the late Alexander Lorezo Lewis Jr. and Dora King Lewis.
Starting as an apprentice for Seaboard Coastline Railroad at the age of 16, Wade retired from CSX Railroad after 44 years of service as a carman. He received his 50-year pin from the Hamlet Masonic Lodge No. 532 in 2024.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Alexander Lorezo Lewis III, Robert Edward Lewis and John Franklin Lewis; and his sister, Carolyn Lewis Davis.
Left to cherish Wade’s memories are his wife, Irene Gibson Lewis of the home; children, Patricia Lewis Anderson (Ken) of Hamlet and Wade Allen Lewis Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia; and grandchildren, Kenneth Reese Anderson IV, Cameron Laine Anderson and Alexander Wade Anderson.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 11 a.m.-noon at First United Methodist Church, Hamlet. The funeral service will take place, following visitation, at noon with the Rev. Dan Blair officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Memorial Park.
At other times, the family will receive friends at 98 McLean St., Hamlet.
