OBITUARY: William Arthur Cline III

HAMLET — William “Ottie” Arthur Cline III, 55, of Hamlet, passed away Monday, June 12, 2023 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

He was born Nov. 2, 1967 in Richmond County, son of Ruby Grace Brown Cline and the late William Arthur Cline Jr.

Ottie worked as a security guard with FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond. He was a faithful member of Maple Street Freewill Baptist Church and was a good Christian man that loved his church.

Ottie was a die-hard sports fan, especially loving the Dallas Cowboys, UNC Tar Heels and the Richmond Raiders. He was a friend to everyone and never met a stranger. He had a great personality and was always in a good mood, joking and cutting-up. He dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Arthur Cline Jr.

Ottie is survived by his children, Nick Cline (Kirsten Baker) and Heather Cline (Ryan Patterson), both of Rockingham; mother, Ruby Brown Cline of Hamlet; sisters, Paula Smith (Jeff) of Hamlet and Mitzi Baucom (Roger) of Rockingham; grandchildren, Caydance, Grayson, Sailor, Owen, Carlie and Jayla; nieces, Ashlee McQueen (Steven), and their children, Madison and Jaxon, and Brandi Cook (Jake), and their children, Korbyn and Trace, and Alexis Smith.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 5-6 p.m. at Maple Street Freewill Baptist Church.

The funeral service will begin, following the visitation, at 6 p.m., with Pastor Darwin Cook officiating. Burial will be held private.

At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of his mother, Roberts Street, Hamlet.
