ROCKINGHAM – Pee Dee Pregnancy Resource Center (PDPRC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization requiring sustainable funds. Much of these resources come from fundraisers. Thursday night, from 5-8 p.m. patrons of Captain D’s Seafood had the opportunity to donate to PDPRC just by dining there.

For those who dined in, as well as those who mentioned PDPRC at the drive-thru, 10% of the proceeds last night were donated to PDPRC.

Jatana McCormick, director of the Pee Dee Pregnancy Resource Center (PDPRC), said she thought the fundraiser went really well. She stated, “At one point we were really packed. The rain didn’t keep everyone away like I thought it might.” Customers certainly did not let the rain dampen their desire to make a difference in supporting PDPRC.

McCormick and Amber Smith, client services manager for PDPRC confirmed that the prize wheel was the hit of the night. For a dollar, customers were able to spin the wheel and receive coupons redeemable with their next meal. 100% of the proceeds from the prize wheel were donated to PDPRC.

Smith stated, “The Prize wheel went really well. A lot of customers participated in spinning it. Everybody has been very supportive of the Pregnancy Center by coming out.”

Customer Peggy Ussery, along with her husband and grandchild, were among those who came out. Ussery said, “We patronized Captain D’s tonight, specifically, in support of  PDPRC.”

PDPRC is in the process of moving to their new location and, according to McCormick, hope to have everything in the new building by the weekend. Their desire is to be set up and ready for customers soon after that.

The new location is 202 South Lawrence Street in Rockingham.
