ELLERBE — Dozens of professional wrestlers faced off inside the squared circle Saturday at an event to honor one of the sport’s biggest stars — the late Andre the Giant.

Titan Championship Wrestling, based in New Jersey, tag-teamed with several other promotions — Atlantic Coast Wrestling, World Class Elite Wrestling, AML Wrestling, Goddesses of War Wrestling and Funhouse Wrestling — to put on a full-card show in the middle of the intersection of Church and Second streets.

The card featured several title matches and the Andre the Giant Tribute Battle Royal, with the 6-foot, 6-inch T.J. Marconi getting the win in the latter.

The event featured several local talents, including: Cruz Bittle in a triple-threat match against The Renegade Outlaw Joe Locklear and Nathan Cross, with Cross retaining his championship belt; and Rockingham’s New Breed (Trip Stewart and Trey McKenzie) losing their tag-team titles to Team Pitbull.

There were also several established wrestlers on the card, with Impact’s Rosemary losing a title bout against Marie Valdomina, and the NWA’s Colby Corino — son of former ECW champ Steve Corino — getting pinned in a match against P.J. Savage.

Sean Studd — son of Andre’s biggest in-ring rival Big John Studd — made an appearance in the ring following a three-man tag match, chokeslamming members of Deadly Sins.
