ROCKINGHAM — The bats couldn’t deliver for the Hamlet American Legion Junior baseball team Saturday.
Beginning their new campaign at Richmond Senior High School, the Junior 49ers lost 7-1 to Davidson County Post 8.
Against the reigning Junior Legion state champions, Hamlet recorded just three hits. Drew Gause had a double, and Wallace Herring and Noah Stubbs each had a single.
Hamlet’s run was scored in the bottom of the sixth inning to make it a 5-1 deficit. Courtesy runner Jakob Trexler scored from second base on an error.
