HAMLET — The Hamlet American Legion Junior baseball team faced a tough conference opponent Saturday.
Hosting Moore County Post 12, Hamlet lost the Area 3 game 11-5.
Jackson Parsons put the Junior 49ers ahead 1-0 in the second inning with an RBI groundout, but that would be the team’s only lead.
Trailing 6-1 to start the home half of the fifth, Cooper Perkins doubled in a run and later scored on an error to cut Hamlet’s deficit in half.
Post 49’s final runs were scored in the sixth and seventh innings on a Dean Cottle RBI groundout and an RBI single by Jaxton Watson, respectively.
