ROCKINGHAM — Six soccer players were recognized on senior night ahead of the Lady Raiders’ home match Monday.
This year’s seniors were Makayla Brown, Olivia Brown, Jentry Denson, Ella Gibson, J’Nasia Neal and Jada Scott.
Of the group, Denson was the only four-year varsity player. Makayla Brown and Scott were both varsity members for three seasons, and Gibson played varsity for two years.
This season was the first with the varsity team for Olivia Brown and Neal.
Ahead of the match, each senior was escorted from midfield toward the bleachers. Joining the players were family members, friends and classmates. A short player bio, as well as favorite memories and future plans, were read over the public address system by principal Joyce McRae.
Walking through a lane lined by their teammates, the six seniors were greeted by head coach Chris Larsen and assistant coach Bennie Howard.
Presented with gifts from their underclassmen teammates, the seniors were also given a personalized flag with Richmond’s crest and their jersey number from the coaching staff.
The Richmond Observer will publish an article of Monday’s match against Forest Hill High School later this evening.
