ROCKINGHAM — Still seeking its first win of the season, the Richmond softball team lost to Anson High School Monday.
The Lady Raiders erased an early deficit but couldn’t hold onto a one-run lead. Allowing runs late in the game, they lost 9-5.
All of Richmond’s runs came in the bottom of the third inning, starting with an RBI double by Hayden Robinson. That was followed by a two-run homer from Claire Clark to make it a 4-3 deficit.
The Lady Raiders scored their final two runs thanks to back-to-back errors at short, which made it a 5-4 advantage.
Anson scored two runs in the sixth inning and three runs in the seventh inning to secure the victory.
