ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond Senior High School softball team suffered a loss at home Wednesday.
Hosting rival Scotland High School, the Lady Raiders came up short 18-6. It was the second of the two-game non-conference series with the Lady Scots.
Trailing 5-0 entering the bottom of the third, Richmond scored its first run. The Lady Raiders added solo runs in the fourth and fifth innings but trailed 10-3 after five complete frames.
Richmond added two runs in the sixth to make it 13-5 and scored its final run in the seventh.
Freshman Claire Clark had two hits, including a solo homer, and one run batted in. Junior Emma Rusich also had two hits and one RBI.
Driving in a run apiece were senior Hayden Robinson, junior Madeline Carriker and sophomore Lexi Smith.
Four pitchers were used by the Lady Raiders in the game — sophomore Madison Hancock (3.0 innings), Rusich (1.0 inning), sophomore Mackenzie Quick (2.1 innings) and Clark (0.2 innings).

The Lady Raiders (5-10, 3-2 MSC) host Hoke County High School (13-2, 5-0 MSC) for a Mid-South Conference game Friday at 6:30 p.m.
