ROCKINGHAM — Returning to the win column Tuesday was the Richmond Senior High School girls’ soccer team.
Hosting Uwharrie Charter Academy for a non-conference match, the Lady Raiders won 5-2.
The three-goal victory followed a 3-3 draw between the two teams last week.
Richmond scored twice in the first half, added three more goals in the final 40 minutes and held a lead as large as four goals.
Freshman Kaylea Peele led the way with two goals, scoring both in the second half. Scoring one goal each in the first half were sophomore Erin Drumwright and senior Jentry Denson.
Richmond’s other second-half goal was scored by junior Colbie Covington on a second chance following a penalty kick.
Richmond (3-4-1) will host Pine Forest High School (4-1) in its Mid-South Conference opener Friday at 7 p.m.
