CHARLOTTE — The 2025 season came to an end for the Richmond Senior High School football team Friday.

No. 6 Richmond lost 52-18 on the road at No. 3 Independence High School in the third round of the 7A playoffs.

The Raiders took a 3-0 lead midway through the first quarter thanks to a Jake Veach 26-yard field goal.

Richmond’s other first-half points came on a trick play from 10 yards. A pitch to Chance Crowder from Evan Hodges resulted in a touchdown throw to Jayden Hamilton. Amer Morrison scored a successful two-point conversion.

Trying to erase a 24-11 halftime deficit, Richmond only scored one touchdown in the second half. Chance Crowder rushed for a one-yard plunge to make it a 38-18 deficit.
