ROCKINGHAM — Discovery Place Kids brought in 2025 12 hours early Tuesday with its annual Noon Year's Eve celebration.

The event, which featured a balloon drop, dance party and scavenger hunt in addition to the main exhibits, brought 232 kids and parents from across the region — and at least one family from out of state — to the downtown science museum.

A similar party was held at the sister DPK in Huntersville.

There will be sensory-friendly hours at all Discovery Place museums from open until 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 5.

DPK underwent renovations earlier this year for the first time since opening in 2013. Click here to read about the reopening in April.
