Hamlet moves into second place

PINEBLUFF — The hits and runs were easy to come by Tuesday for the Hamlet American Legion baseball team.

Knocking 16 hits, including a team-high four hits from Jacob Williams, Hamlet defeated Aberdeen Post 72 by a final score 20-9 in five innings.

Part of the win was a nine-run fourth inning, which saw Post 49 score all of those runs with two outs. John Carre drove in a team-high five RBI and Williams and Maddox Locklear each had three RBI.

Riley Brown pitched 4.1 innings and had six strikeouts in the win.

Hamlet (9-7, 5-4 Area 3) hosts Randolph County Post 45 in Wednesday’s regular season finale. First pitch is at 7 p.m.
