SILER CITY — It wasn’t how the Hamlet American Legion baseball team started Monday, but how it finished that mattered most.

Playing Chatham County Post 305 on the road for an Area 3 Conference game, Post 49 earned a come-from-behind 9-7 victory.

Trailing by as many as four runs, Hamlet rallied in the middle innings. Post 49 scored three runs in the second and four runs in the fifth as part of the comeback.

Caden Nolan helped put Hamlet ahead with a two-run shot in the fifth inning, one of his three extra-base hits in the game. Collin Hill drove in a team-high three RBI and helped get the rally started in the second.

Jason Walker earned the win on the mound and Dylan Tilson was credited with the save.
