ASHEBORO — An error scored the winning run in extra innings for the Hamlet American Legion baseball team Wednesday.

On the road at McCrary Park, Post 49 defeated Randolph County Post 45 by the final score of 5-4 in nine innings.

Collin Hill recorded a one-out walk in the top of the ninth and later scored when Maddox Locklear bunted the ball back to the pitcher. An errant throw to third base allowed Hill to score.

Caden Nolan was credited with the win on the mound thanks to his 3.2 innings of relief. He worked out of a jam in the bottom of the ninth, stranding a leadoff double at third base to preserve the victory.
