HAMLET — The Hamlet American Legion baseball team entered the win column Friday.
Behind a five-inning performance from starting pitcher Jason Walker, coupled with Riley Brown’s team-high three runs batted in, Post 49 defeated Anson County Post 446 11-1 in six innings.
Walker dealt seven strikeouts and allowed just one unearned run on three hits. Brown had two hits, joining teammates Collin Hill, Isaac Hinshaw and Garrett Manning who also had two hits each.
Hamlet scored two runs in both the second and third innings, before taking an 8-1 lead after four complete frames.
Another two runs in the fifth led to the mercy-rule run being scored on an error on an Evan Hodges fly ball to left field an inning later.
