HAMLET — In its second game of the summer, the Hamlet American Legion baseball team came up short at Memorial Park Monday.
Hosting Davidson County Post 8, the 49ers lost 11-7.
Leading 6-2 after a five-run fifth inning, Hamlet Post 49 was outscored by eight runs in the final two innings.
Caden Nolan finished the game with a team-high four runs batted in, including a three-run double in the fifth.
Hamlet used five pitchers in the game, starting with Evan Hodges, who allowed two runs (one earned) over four innings and had seven strikeouts.
Other pitchers used were Maddox Locklear, Jabari Douglas, Tristan Chavis and Brady Fowler.

Hamlet (1-1, 1-1 Area 3) will host Chatham County Post 305 (5-3, 1-0 Area 3) Thursday at 7 p.m.
