HAMLET — The Hamlet American Legion baseball team earned a win Saturday in the final game of the opening day of the North Carolina Legion Baseball Hall of Fame Classic.

Hosting Eastern Randolph Post 81, Hamlet dotted the scoreboard in a 7-1 victory.

Starting pitcher Evan Hodges didn’t allow a run in five innings of work and struck out seven batters. Brady Fowler and Dylan Tilson each threw an inning of relief.

Driving in a game-high two runs batted in was Isaac Hinshaw, one of five Hamlet batters to plate at least one run. Hamlet scored three runs in both the second and fourth innings.

Hamlet Post 49 (2-2) is set to host Chatham County Post 292 in the HOF Classic finale Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
