ROCKINGHAM — The final senior night of the school year took place at Richmond Senior High School Thursday.
Richmond’s baseball team took a few moments ahead of winning its first conference championship title in a decade to recognize its five senior players.
Introduced in front of a large home crowd were seniors Colton Brown, Evan Hodges, Maddox Locklear, Caden Nolan and Jake Veach.
Celebrated for three full seasons of varsity baseball were Hodges and Nolan, both of whom have embraced leadership roles during their tenures.
Veach has been with the varsity team the past two seasons and has enjoyed a breakout senior campaign.
Both Brown and Locklear joined the varsity Raiders this spring.
Public address announcer Jim Butler read a short biography of each senior, which included their future plans, their favorite baseball memory and advice to their teammates.
The entire coaching staff greeted the seniors along the third base line. Head coach Eric Brown presented each senior with a framed personalized poster, complete with action shots from this season.
Richmond (18-6, 13-2 MSC) now await the NCHSAA’s release of the 7A playoff brackets Monday.
