FAYETTEVILLE — The closing minutes of Friday’s season finale saw the Richmond Raider basketball team complete a comeback en route to a conference championship.
Needing to defeat last-place Pine Forest High School to claim the inaugural Mid-South Conference title, the Raiders erased a double-digit deficit in the second half to win 61-49.
Thanks to a 12-2 run in the fourth quarter, the Raiders rallied to win their fifth straight conference crown (and fourth outright title).
Amer Morrison scored a game-high 26 points, including a 16-point performance in the final stanza. Also scoring double digits were Cam’ron Coley (12 points) and Donovan Jones (10 points).
Chance Crowder had four points, but his first bucket of the game gave the Raiders the lead in the fourth quarter, part of the game-changing run.
The Raiders finished the regular season 18-6 and had an 8-2 record against MSC teams.
