FAYETTEVILLE — An explosive ground game, balanced with a couple of passing scores and a defensive touchdown, led the Richmond Raiders to a win Friday.
Notching its third straight victory, Richmond opened Mid-South Conference action with a 53-8 blowout win on the road at Pine Forest High School.
Taking a 47-8 lead at halftime, the Raiders used two rushing scores apiece from senior quarterback Evan Hodges and junior running back Chance Crowder.
Hodges also threw one touchdown pass apiece to senior wide receivers Amer Morrison and Keonta Pegues. Richmond’s other first-half score was a fumble recovery returned to the end zone by senior linebacker Terande Spencer.
With a running clock going the entire second half, Richmond’s lone second-half score was a rushing TD from senior running back Christian Everett, his first career varsity score.

Richmond (4-2, 1-0 MSC) hosts Jack Britt High School (3-2, 0-0 MSC) next Friday for its homecoming game. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
