RAEFORD — A healthy diet of the run and pass game, coupled with a strong helping from the defense, made Richmond Senior High School’s game at Hoke County a runaway on Friday.
Scoring a season-high six rushing touchdowns, to go along with a season-best 526 yards of offense, the Raiders rolled the Bucks 47-14.
Richmond’s first score of the game was a 35-yard passing touchdown from senior quarterback Kellan Hood to senior running back Nasir Crumpton. It was the first of three trips to the end zone in the first half.
From that point on, the Raiders crossed the goal line six more times, all on the ground. Crumpton and Hood would add rushing scores of 2 yards and 40 yards, respectively, before the end of the first two quarters.
Junior running back Taye Spencer picked up the next two scores on the ground just over two minutes apart in the third quarter. His first one went for 31 yards, followed by a 13-yard run to the house.
Backup junior quarterback Emoni McBride joined the scoring parade, plunging in from three yards out in the third quarter. Capping the scoring was junior running back Brandon Askins, who found a hole for a 50-yard score with 5:54 to play.
Richmond’s defense made several red zone stops, including a forced fumble by sophomore defensive end Jacoby Martin in the first half, which was scooped up by senior linebacker Mikey Baldwin.
At the time of publication, official quarterback sack numbers aren’t available, but senior defensive end J.D. Lampley and sophomore linebacker Marquan Martin each had at least one.
Hood was 17-for-19 with 221 yards and a score to Crumpton, while McBride connected on 4-of-5 passing for 51 yards. Seven different Raider receivers had at least one catch, with senior Chris Ellerbe hauling in a career-high 104 yards on five catches.
The Raiders (5-1, 2-0 SAC) won their third-straight game and also locked up the No.1 spot in the Sandhills Athletic Conference’s 4A standings
