ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond Senior High School girls’ basketball program kicked off its first day of the new season Wednesday.
Joining other programs around campus and the state, the Lady Raiders participated in the first official day of winter sports tryouts.
Richmond will have a combination of new and returning personnel this season, led by senior point guard Jamyia Lindsey, who returns as the leading 4A East scorer from a season ago.
Taking over the interim head coaching responsibilities will be Taneika Reader, a long time assistant coach with the Lady Raiders’ program.
At Wednesday’s tryout, there were close to 30 players on the court going out for the varsity or junior varsity teams.
The Lady Raiders will hold tryouts Thursday and Friday and begin official practices next week.
