ROCKINGHAM — Capping the festivities across Richmond Senior High School’s campus Thursday was the softball program.
One of three senior nights being held, the Lady Raiders recognized four players for their contributions to the program.
Part of this year’s senior class for the softball team were Mikayla English, Trinity Lockhart, Madelynn Pearson and Jakayla Steele.
Playing varsity all four years was Steele. English, Lockhart and Pearson each played two seasons at the varsity level.
The Lady Raiders started at home plate and made a special trip around the bases, meeting their families and assistant coach Taylor Parrish at first base. Rounding second, they met assistant coach Lauren Brewer.
Head coach Caroline Wilson greeted players at third base, and upon returning to home, teammates presented each senior with a gift basket. Public address announcer Biggie Lyerly read biographies and future plans for each player, while also highlighting their favorite memories.
The Richmond Observer will publish an article on Thursday’s win over Lee County High School soon.
