WAXHAW — Becoming the fourth of six spring sports programs at Richmond Senior High School to open its season, the track and field program did so over the weekend.
The Raiders and Lady Raiders competed in the Clash of the Carolinas, an invitational meet hosted by Cuthbertson High School.
Competing in 12 events were the Raiders, while the Lady Raiders competed in 10 events.
The best finish for either team was the Raiders’ 4x200-meter relay team. Christian Surgent, Ty Covington, Amer Morrison and Tyrese Collins placed second overall with a time of 1:28.75.
The Lady Raiders’ best result was by Shamia Williams in the long jump. She was fifth overall with a distance of 16 feet, 3.25 inches.
