ROCKINGHAM — The second of three senior night celebrations took place at Richmond Senior High School’s track Thursday.
Joining the boys’ tennis and softball teams across campus, the Raider and Lady Raider track and field teams took time to recognize their soon-to-be graduates.
This year’s seniors for the Raiders included Aaron Coleman, Deshaun Ingram, James Lewis, Joseph Patterson and manager MaKhia Burch. The Lady Raiders recognized two seniors — Anayjah Dumas and Amariah Gibson.
All of the seniors who were recognized have been a part of the program for several years, some of whom have participated in track and field all four years of high school.
Each student-athlete was escorted by family members on the football field while their achievements and future plans were read by assistant coach Morgan Tedder. Head coaches Reginald Miller and John Rich presented each with a personalized banner.
Following the seniors being recognized, both teams competed in a Sandhills Athletic Conference meet against Hoke County, Southern Lee and Union Pines high schools.
Also competing were non-conference opponents Ablemarle High School and the Father Vincent Capodanno School.
The Richmond Observer will publish the results of Thursday’s conference meet when they’re made available.
